Hello Traveler!

The bulk of my art research serves as an investigation into Albert Camus’ notion of the Absurd. In the pursuit of understanding the beauty and complexion of the human condition situated in a small slice of the cosmos, I have come to know art as a powerful tool for gaining insight into people and the sciences. When expression via linguistics or maths proves too robust to articulate ideas effectively, creative practices serve as powerful tools for overcoming the limitations of these languages. My routine sketches are usually automatic drawings and/or streams of consciousness. I then study these to understand the principles underlying the emergent chaos and noise that eventually manifest into a completed sketch. I hope to apply this approach to gain insight into systems outside the arts, such as physics and medicine, as a sort of “bypass” of linear thinking. When I create big projects, I usually put the principles I’ve gained from the sketches in the back of my head and simply have fun making art for art’s sake. The dialogue produced between the arts and sciences during my undergraduate studies has made learning — academically, yes, but also in (inter)personal endeavors — much more intuitive and enriching. I hope to continue refining how I contextualize and synergize diverse fields of knowledge to eventually fill gaps in knowledge at the frontiers of medical and scientific research.
